Reflection on Ahmed Yousuf’s presentation
Date: Wednesday 16thMay 2012
Venue: W007
Time: 1115
Topic: air pollution
Introduction: he began by asking questions about his first slide to establish the topic of his presentation, which was air pollution.
He then showed a colourful diagram showing various toxic elements, some of which he couldn’t name.He showed 2 or 3 slides with text which he read out; this was not good practice but, to be fair, he did add extra information for all of them.
He asked and answered questions as he went along; he did this in a relaxed manner, interacting well with the audience and responding well to questions, suggestions and general points.
Both body language and eye contact were excellent.
In discussion, he defended well the point that every individual should do the right (green, environmental) thing even if a majority don’t.
New things which I learnt:
850 deaths per year in the UAE are linked to air pollution, according to The National.
The worst country, by far, for pollution per capita is Qatar, followed by Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain.
